DESCRIPTION OF THE INCA ROAD TO MACHU PICCHU:

TRAVEL ITINERARY TO THE WONDERFUL PERU
Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 4 days / 3 nights
TOURS DAY 1:
TOUR CUSCO – INCA TRAIL – WAYLLABAMBA
Pick up from your hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning, to board the tourist bus that will take us directly to Piskacucho (2,700 meters above sea level) a small community located at kilometer 82 of the Cusco – Machu Picchu railway, where we will start our walk and join the entire team of professionals who will make our trip wonderful.
After crossing the bridge, we will start our walk along the left bank of the Urubamba river that flows northeast from the Sacred Valley. After passing through some cultivation terraces, we will reach Miskay (2,800 masl), to go up and finally see the Inca city of Patallacta or Llactapata (2,750 masl). We will continue our walk along the valley formed by the Kusichaca river, until we reach our first camp in Wayllabamba (3,000 masl), where we will have lunch prepared by our cook and spend the night. Throughout the whole tour, we will be able to enjoy the panorama, with the Vilcanota river, the Urubamba mountain range “La Verónica” (5,750 masl) and we will appreciate a great variety of flora and fauna.
TOURS DAY 2:
WAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA – PACAYMAYU
After breakfast very early we will start the walk this day will be more intense we will walk in a precipitous and narrow climb 9 km. Throughout this ascent, the landscape will change from sierra to “puna”; a dry and high area with little vegetation. At this time, we will reach the first and highest mountain pass at 4,200 masl, known as Abra de Warmihuañusca (dead woman)
There, we will be able to observe llamas and domestic alpacas grazing in the “ichu”; one of the few plants that grow at that altitude. Also, we will pass through a part of the forest, where various birds and animals such as sparrows and the Andean bear or spectacled bear inhabit. It is advisable to carry energy bars or cereals, dried fruits and coca leaves, to maintain a high level of energy in the body and thus, counteract altitude sickness and cold. After the pass, we will descend towards the Pacaymayu valley (3,600 masl), where we will camp after 7 hours of walking.
TOURS DAY 3:
PACAYMAYU – WIÑAYWAYNA – Inca quarry trek to machupicchu 4 days
This is the longest day, but the most interesting and impressive of our trek, since we will visit several archaeological sites and take advantage of the explanations of our guide. From Pacaymayu, we will go up to the second mountain pass; Abra de Runkurakay (3,970 masl), we will visit the archaeological complex of the same name at 3,800 masl and we will know important vestiges of Inca culture.
After the pass, we will descend towards Yanacona (Black Lagoon), finally arriving at Sayacmarca (3,624 masl), where we will have lunch, and then continue on our walk and observe how the landscape changes from dry and mountainous to green and semi-tropical, in the jungle eyebrow and following an easy climb, we will pass through an Inca tunnel and reach the third pass or Abra de Phuyupatamarca (3,700 masl).
Phuyupatamarca is one of the most complete and best preserved archaeological complexes and is located at the highest point of the mountain. Phuyupatamarca means “Place High Above the Clouds” and from there, we will be able to observe a sophisticated complex made up of water sources and impressive views over the Urubamba River, along which we will continue ascending towards Wiñay Huayna (2,700 masl), which means ” Forever Young ”, to take a guided tour of this strategically located archaeological complex. Dinner and overnight in the camp.

TOURS DAY 4:
WIÑAY HUAYNA – EXCURSION MACHU PICCHU
In Wiñay Huayna, we get up very early and after breakfast we head towards Puerta del Sol or Inti Punku, from where we can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of Machu Picchu and contemplate the sunrise, after a walk on flat stones, at edge of mountainous cliffs. From Inti Punku, we will descend towards Machu Picchu, arriving there in about 40 minutes of walking.
Then, we will enjoy a guided tour of about 2 hours, after which you will have free time to walk around the Historical Sanctuary, climb the Huayna Picchu mountain, where you will experience spectacular views of valleys and mountains or also, visit the Temple of the Moon and the fabulous Inca Bridge or go down to the town of Aguas Calientes and visit the thermal baths. At the time indicated by our guide we will board our train to Ollantaytambo where our transfer awaits you and embarks you by bus to Cusco.
