Pick up from your hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning, to board the tourist bus that will take us directly to Piskacucho (2,700 meters above sea level) a small community located at kilometer 82 of the Cusco – Machu Picchu railway, where we will start our walk and join the entire team of professionals who will make our trip wonderful.

After crossing the bridge, we will start our walk along the left bank of the Urubamba river that flows northeast from the Sacred Valley. After passing through some cultivation terraces, we will reach Miskay (2,800 masl), to go up and finally see the Inca city of Patallacta or Llactapata (2,750 masl). We will continue our walk along the valley formed by the Kusichaca river, until we reach our first camp in Wayllabamba (3,000 masl), where we will have lunch prepared by our cook and spend the night. Throughout the whole tour, we will be able to enjoy the panorama, with the Vilcanota river, the Urubamba mountain range “La Verónica” (5,750 masl) and we will appreciate a great variety of flora and fauna.

After breakfast very early we will start the walk this day will be more intense we will walk in a precipitous and narrow climb 9 km. Throughout this ascent, the landscape will change from sierra to “puna”; a dry and high area with little vegetation. At this time, we will reach the first and highest mountain pass at 4,200 masl, known as Abra de Warmihuañusca (dead woman)

There, we will be able to observe llamas and domestic alpacas grazing in the “ichu”; one of the few plants that grow at that altitude. Also, we will pass through a part of the forest, where various birds and animals such as sparrows and the Andean bear or spectacled bear inhabit. It is advisable to carry energy bars or cereals, dried fruits and coca leaves, to maintain a high level of energy in the body and thus, counteract altitude sickness and cold. After the pass, we will descend towards the Pacaymayu valley (3,600 masl), where we will camp after 7 hours of walking.

PACAYMAYU – WIÑAYWAYNA – Inca quarry trek to machupicchu 4 days

Phuyupatamarca is one of the most complete and best preserved archaeological complexes and is located at the highest point of the mountain. Phuyupatamarca means “Place High Above the Clouds” and from there, we will be able to observe a sophisticated complex made up of water sources and impressive views over the Urubamba River, along which we will continue ascending towards Wiñay Huayna (2,700 masl), which means ” Forever Young ”, to take a guided tour of this strategically located archaeological complex.
